Speakeasy Restaurant Drops Into Historic Rockwall
Say hello to a brand new hangout spot in the heart of downtown Rockwall! Taking the place of Sloane’s Sweet Treats bakery at 104 N. San Jacinto St., the Speak Lounge is set to open its doors. Meet the folks behind this exciting venture, Tommy and Tamara Kolleck. Yep, the very same pair who gave us the unconventional Speak, a hidden speakeasy that quickly became the talk of the town. Now, they’re set to shake things up further, aiming to have the lounge up and running by mid-to-late October.
Remember Sloane’s Sweet Treats? Tommy and Tamara first started that cozy spot back in 2021. It was the kind of place where you could get a delicious breakfast with your freshly brewed coffee, a scoop of ice cream, or just your everyday fountain drink. The baking smells filling the air were all part of the plan, a cover for their real passion project brewing in the back— a speakeasy, which finally saw the light in June 2023.
Tommy couldn’t hide his excitement, “The idea was the speakeasy from the get-go when we began the bakery.” He sure had a vision, and oh, what an immersive experience he crafted!
